Biography
Liam is a software developer from the United Kingdom, born in Kingston Upon Hull on 14th April 1993.
After graduating from The University of Hull in 2014 with a 2:1 in BSc Computer Software Development, Liam moved away from Hull to live in Camborne, Cornwall, before relocating to Selby in Yorkshire in 2018.
After marrying his wife Kirsty Wilson on 19th February 2022, they bought a house back in Hull, where they have lived ever since.

Lead Software Engineer Jet2.com & Jet2holidays
Liam leads software engineering work at one of the UK's largest tour operators and airlines, guiding technical direction, mentoring developers, and helping deliver the systems behind Jet2's holidays and flights.

Senior Software Developer Pierbridge
Pierbridge is part of the WiseTech Global group. Liam worked on logistics software and advised on security matters, running internal penetration tests, organising external ones, and delivering security training across the company.

Senior Software Developer Trailight
Liam helped with the continued development of financial regulatory software. After just under a year he decided it wasn't the right fit and moved on.

Software Developer LumiraDX Care Solutions
Straight out of university, Liam joined LumiraDX Care Solutions (under a different name at the time) working on medical device software. He grew from a junior developer into a key member of the team and took on the role of security lead, running internal and external penetration tests and delivering software security training. Four years well spent, and a place he still looks back on fondly.

While at university Liam ran a business building customer website and CMS systems for local businesses. It taught him how to work with customers, manage projects and time, and pick up a wide range of development techniques.

Hull College
Studying towards a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (IT for Practitioners), Liam earned a Distinction, Merit, Merit and discovered a real passion for software programming that has shaped his life since.

Family
Family is one of the most important things in Liam's life.
Kirsty Wilson Wife
Liam and Kirsty had their first date on 1st June 2018 and moved in together that August, first staying with Liam's Grandma Pam Raper while house-hunting, then settling in Selby. Liam proposed in the centre of Zeebrugge, Belgium, and they married on 19th February 2022.
Tracy Wilson Mum
Tracy gave birth to Liam on 14th April 1993 at the age of 17 and has been a great inspiration to him all his life. She married Chris Wilson in 1996. Liam and Tracy share the same eye condition, aniridia, but it has never stopped either of them living a full life. Liam has always looked to his mum to understand what's achievable.
Chris Wilson Dad
Chris married Liam's mum in 1996 and became his stepdad. Held in great esteem by Liam, not just as the man who took him as his own but as a fantastic person, Chris lives up to the saying: "Anyone can be a father; it takes someone special to be a Dad." He also passed on his love of "bad" Dad jokes.
Callum Wilson Brother
Born in 1997, the first son of Tracy and Chris. Callum and Liam spent their time playing games, fighting as brothers do, and sharing good times. Callum is a teaching assistant and is football mad.
Freddie Wilson Brother
Born in 2008, the second son of Tracy and Chris. Liam has watched Freddie grow up from a baby into someone with a wonderful, curious mind, just like Liam's own.
Pam Raper Grandma
Mum to Tracy. Liam has lived with Pam twice: as a young child, and again for a while in 2018 when moving back to Yorkshire. A wonderful, caring woman who loves gardening and sewing. Liam's middle name, John, honours his late Grandad, Pam's husband.
Maureen Wilson Grandma
Mum to Chris. Liam has always loved spending time with Maureen, especially Christmas stay-overs and summer visits. A fun, happy person who loves arts and crafts and caring for greyhounds.
Geoff Wilson Grandad
Father of Chris and married to Maureen. Like his wife, Geoff is fun and happy, and enjoys reading about history. Liam has fond memories of Christmas stay-overs and summer visits.
Extended Family
Liam's extended family includes Uncle Mark, Aunty Claire and Cousin Libby (Raper), and Uncle Iain (Wilson).

Friends
Liam has a good group of friends who have been in his life for many years.
Chris Skelley
Liam has known Chris since they were both in nursery, the longest-lasting of his friendships. The two can often tell what the other is thinking, and even though they don't see each other as much these days they still share a close connection.
Ben Moodie
Ben introduced himself to Liam on the first day of secondary school in the lunch line. They were classmates for three years and hit it off from the start, spending many nights gaming and hanging out in Hull city centre. Ben has always had Liam's back.
Matt Barber
Matt and Liam met in Year 12 science when they were seated together. Liam introduced Matt to Ben and Chris and the four became lifelong friends. Liam was honoured to be an usher at Matt's wedding to Gemma.
Gemma Barber
Gemma joined the friend group when Matt and Ben introduced her at Wyke Sixth Form College. Intelligent and fun, she's someone Liam always enjoys talking to. He was honoured to be an usher at her wedding to Matt.

Travelled To
Liam has stayed in every county of Britain. His international travel includes:
Majorca Spain
Liam's first trip outside the UK. The main memory: walking from Cala Millor to Son Servera in the baking heat, still a well-told story in the family.
Venice Italy
Visited as a teenager with family, staying in a static caravan on the mainland and soaking up the local culture. This is where Liam fell in love with Italy.
Rome Italy
Visited in 2016 with Chris Skelley, spending the time seeing the sights and eating very good Italian food.
Zeebrugge Belgium
Liam loves the architecture and a good waffle. He and Kirsty visited on 16th February 2019, and this is where Liam proposed.
Amsterdam Netherlands
Visited with friends for a lovely time wandering around the great city.

Sport
Liam stays active today without a specific sport, but growing up he competed in several.
Judo
Liam did Judo from age 12 to 15, reaching yellow belt 2nd dan and winning a bronze medal in his one competition. He loved the focus it gave him.
Cricket
Liam played cricket for the Yorkshire blind team. He enjoyed the game but couldn't commit to it long term.
Goalball
The sport Liam played longest, starting with the Hull team then moving to York before taking his job in Cornwall. He played at all three levels of the domestic game and had a lot of fun doing it.
